Description:
Join us for an hour of relaxed creative fun in this live Zoom drawing session! We'll start by slowing down our breath, helping you settle into a peaceful and open mindset for creativity. From there, we’ll dive into the whimsical world of monsters and critters, inspired by Ken Nesbitt's playful poem, "I Might Have Met a Monster."
You’ll explore the imaginative world of creatures big and small, funny and bizarre, as we guide you through a fun and lighthearted drawing session. No previous drawing experience necessary—just bring your imagination and a sense of fun! Together, we’ll draw a variety of colourful, crazy critters and monsters. Let your creativity run wild!
Session Outline:
Grounding & Breathwork
Slow down and centre yourself with a short breathing exercise to help get into a calm and creative space.
Poem Reading & Inspiration
We’ll read “I Might Have Met a Monster” by Ken Nesbitt and discuss the whimsical and fun elements of the poem to inspire your drawings.
Directed Drawing Session
A step-by-step guided session to help you create a variety of fun and colourful critters and monsters. You’ll be encouraged to add your own twists, creating wild creatures as you follow along.
Sharing & Closing
We’ll wrap up with a chance to share our drawings and reflect on the creative experience.
What You'll Need:
- Paper or sketchbook
- Drawing materials (pencil, markers, crayons, or anything you prefer!)
- A comfortable, quiet space to draw and relax
- Access to zoom and internet on a device
Who Can Join:
This event is open to anyone aged 5-12 years old, looking for a fun, creative outlet—no prior drawing experience needed!
